Meet Account Manager, Melissa Sandoval!

For the month of June, we sat down with Senior Account Manager, Melissa Sandoval, to learn more about her and her role at Elevation. 

Tell us about a typical day in the life of Melissa

I wake up around 4:30 and go to the gym for a 5:15 class. This is very important as it gets my day started off with some ‘me’ time and spend time with friends.

When I get home, I get ready for work, wake up my 3-year old and team up with my husband to get her ready, which isn’t always an easy task. After dropping her off at my parent’s house I head to work around 8. After our morning meetings and chatting with my team, my day starts with me creating my to-do lists and answering emails.

That’s where the typical ends. Every day is different at Elevation, which is great. I could be working on new business, working on digital media and landing pages or talking with clients about the end of a campaign and recommending what’s next.

I leave around 5:15, pick up my daughter and head home. My husband and I figure out what’s for dinner, try to find time to walk our two pit bulls, Meatball and Rex, and maybe watch a show before getting ready for bed around 9 so we can do it all over again the next day!

What do you do in your role at Elevation?

I’m a Senior Account Manager, but wear a lot of hats. I lead and manage accounts that I’m assigned to. I manage the day-to-day communication with the client and the communication within the agency for their work. Making sure what we do for our clients stays on message, brand, budget and deadlines. If there is a problem, it’s my job to find the solution and work with our teams to do so. Ultimately making sure the client is happy with our work so we can continue to do more with them. 

 How did you become interested in marketing? 

In college, I switched from a nursing major to marketing and communications. It’s always changing and there are so many pieces and parts to manage. I moved to New York City and that started my career in marketing and advertising. It’s been a fun ride over the last 18 years and I look forward to whatever comes next!

What do you find most rewarding about your role?

I love that there is always a new challenge. I’m not in a role where I do the same thing every day. I have to think from all different perspectives and the most rewarding part is when a client is happy and I can help the account grow. I also have a fantastic team working alongside me and that makes a huge difference. It’s great to be in a place where you feel empowered, trusted and supported.

What do you think makes Elevation stand out as a trailblazer in the marketing industry?

My past agency work has been all B2C. It’s been a refreshing change to do B2B work at Elevation. The type of work we are doing here is diverse and challenging. Elevation is always working on new business so we always know something new and interesting is coming our way. 

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

My husband and I love to golf and we just started a golf apparel company called Golf Cartel. We started with hats and koozies and will be selling shirts and other attire soon! I also love fitness and for the last 7 years have been a group fitness instructor – which I hope to get back into again soon!

What is your favorite thing to do in the city of Phoenix?

Working out at my group fitness gym, golfing with my husband and trying out all the amazing restaurants this city has! I also love hiking and getting out camping on weekends with my husband and kids (Zoe and Isaac)  – especially in the summer to escape the heat.
