Q&A With Office Coordinator Andrea Chacon
For the month of May, we decided to get to know Elevation’s Office Coordinator, Andrea Chacon. She is here to keep our Elevation staff happy and functional. She also maintains our office equipment and keeps our kitchen well stocked with goodies. Most of her time is spent preparing documents, maintaining our agency’s calendar and coming up with great activities for office team building – she practically keeps this place running!
Tell us about a typical day in the life of Andrea.
You will find me at Elevation Marketing Monday-Friday from 8:00-5:00. I unlock our office doors and make sure the office is ready and set up for the day by getting all of the conference rooms ready for meetings. Every morning I work on The Daily Report which shows what meetings we have scheduled for the day and who is out of the office. I restock the fridge 2 or 3 times throughout the day and look for ideas for office activities depending on the upcoming holidays, or other events that are happening internally.
What initially made you want to be part of Elevation Marketing?
I thought this would be the perfect place for me to explore my creativity and feed my party planning addiction. I have been an administrative assistant for many different organizations for over 15 years, and I really enjoy working in a supporting role. I find satisfaction knowing I am providing relief to some by taking on tasks to make their load a little easier. It’s NEVER been about MY work, however, I take pride in what I do for others.
I understand the importance of making sure the office morale is positive because I have always been a part of an activities committee. I am used to having to do fundraising in order to have a budget to recognize employees. For Elevation, I have a ton of ideas on how to recognize our staff. I have all sorts of teambuilding activities in mind. The challenge is it’s hard for our staff to make time for fun because they are busy putting our clients first, as they should be.
What’s the coolest event you’ve been a part of planning while at Elevation?
I have the best job ever because I get to plan ALL of our staff events! I have been addicted to Pinterest for a few years now and I am thrilled that I actually have an excuse to browse and create boards like “fun at work”. It’s hard to narrow it down to just one event. I love recognizing ridiculous holidays. So far I’ve been able to celebrate unique holidays such as National Oreo Cookie Day, and I picked up pies for the office on National Pi Day (March 14).
I am looking forward to planning more staff outings like Escape Room, Main Event, Feed my Starving Children, etc. The goal is to create more team building events outside of work. I like to encourage people to find at least 15 min of their day, once a week to have a little bit of fun in the workplace.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I love dancing to salsa, merengue, and cumbia music. I also own a stand-up paddleboard and try to get out to Canyon or Saguaro Lake at least once a month from April – October.
If you could have dinner with anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
I would love to be able to spend quality time with my dad again. I lost my dad to Leukemia 4 years ago. I would want to have a dinner while at a Cubs game at Wrigley Field, talking about the big 2016 World Series Championship. We would enjoy hot dogs, peanuts and cold beers like the good ol’ days while singing “Take me out to the Ball Game.” I sure miss his voice and being in his presence!
What are you most excited about regarding the future of Elevation?
I have already seen so much growth since I started the end of January. It’s a testament showing that Elevation Marketing is doing exactly that…we’re helping businesses grow which means we are also growing. I believe in Scott’s vision for this company. We are moving to a new office in less than 3 months, which is exciting! I love sharing some of our client’s names with friends and family members when they ask me about Elevation Marketing. I can’t wait to see what happens over the next couple of years.
