For the month of September, we are celebrating the addition of one of our new Account Directors, Dave Carlton! Keep reading to learn more about Dave and his role at Elevation!
1. What is a typical day in your life?
Every day begins the same. I spend the first 45 minutes of my day walking my Great Dane, Jaeger. This first part of my day is where I practice the art of gratitude. The world may not be perfect, but I am certainly thankful for a great many things in my life. This time allows me to focus on those things. After that I make the 30 minute commute to work, where no two days are ever alike. Being in Account Services places my team at the hub of the wheel. Each day is a constant balancing act involving a highly creative and collaborative process directly involving our clients and various departments within the agency. Open communication is essential and allows us to produce the very best work to ensure our clients’ success.
2. How did you choose this career path?
I graduated with a degree in Marketing from the University of Georgia. My first job out of college was a small collateral shop where I cut my teeth in the business. From there I gradually moved upward and onward by working for dozens of clients in many agencies across many business sectors, and over many years.
3. What drew you to Elevation Marketing?
I had taken a step away from the marketing game to help raise my son. Eventually, I began to develop the itch to get back in the business. I had a former colleague who worked at Elevation and had great things to say about it. One thing led to another and now here I am as part of the Elevation Team!
4. What would people never guess you do in your role?
I try to act as somewhat of a coach for the people who I work with. I’ve been blessed to have had some great teachers/mentors in my life and I firmly believe in paying that forward.
5. In your mind, what sets Elevation apart from other agencies?
Without question, the people who work here. I’ve been a part of many agencies, but never one where people truly leave their egos at the door. Elevation is the friendliest, most helpful and most collaborative group I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with by far, and it’s not even close.
6. Tell us something we may not know about you?
I used to be a competitive tri-athlete and marathoner. Unfortunately, a left foot injury and two surgeries left my competitive career a distant memory. I can still coach though, so I’m thankful for that!
7. What’s your favorite thing to do in Phoenix?
My running days may be over, but I still love to hike. The Phoenix area provides plenty of places to explore!
